June 1 Game Canceled

Racine Raiders logoThe Racine Raiders home opener scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2019, against the Chillicothe Swarm is canceled. The team will now open their season at home on Saturday, June 8, 2019, against the Grand Rapids (MI) Seminoles.

A levy break near Chillicothe, Missouri, led to catastrophic flooding in the area. The Chillicothe Swarm notified the Raiders on Thursday evening that they wouldn’t be able to make the trip to Racine for the June 1 game. General manager Robbie Harrington immediately began reaching out to teams outside the MidStates Football League to see if any were available to travel to Historic Horlick Athletic Field to fill the date.

“I sent invites to more than 20 different teams,” says Harrington. “Most of them already had games scheduled for this week and some simply couldn’t make the trip on short notice. Many others hadn’t returned my calls by the time we needed to make a decision.”
