Is the NFE a made-up championship? The reason I ask is on the Detroit Seminoles site this game for them was an exhibition game and they are slated to play in January vs. South Boston for the National Championship. So why doesn’t Racine travel to Florida for championship?

The NFE championship is actually the only sponsored national championship in the country as far as we know (Habush, Habush and Rottier). Detroit, the #2 team in the country before this game, agreed to play the Raiders, the #3 team at the time, for the NFE national championship. They then received a bid to play in Florida for a one-off bowl game. The Raiders always believe in earning your way to a national title and did that this season, winning the MSFL, participating in the Midwest Football Tournament, and then playing the Seminoles. The Raiders beat at least five teams ranked in the top ten, with a few of those ranked in the top three, on their way to this title game.

The problem in semi-pro are these one-off bowl games. They host several over one weekend in Florida, crowning multiple national champions down there in that weekend. We choose to earn it and beat the best throughout the preseason, regular season and postseason.
