Racine Raiders and UW-Parkside Radio (WIPZ) Form Broadcast Team
- Updated: April 11, 2016
The Raiders organization is also extending its community outreach mission by working with the Sports Management, Communications, and Marketing Departments at UW-Parkside to develop internships that offer students practical and real world experiences in the operations of a sports team.
“This endeavor started as a vision by former Raiders President Matt Snyder and we are pleased to bring it to fruition. It’s a win-win situation all the way around,” said Matt Nelson, the Raiders current president. “As a non-profit organization, we have the opportunity to be involved with another community-based organization in UW-Parkside and WIPZ, Ranger Radio.”
The broadcast team of Don Wadewitz and Tom Christensen will return and the Raiders will look to involve UW-Parkside students in production and on-air roles. Besides broadcasting all home and away games, WIPZ will carry the weekly Raider Roundup program.
“We, at WIPZ, are looking forward to working with such a great community-based organization as the Racine Raiders,” said WIPZ Station Manager Eric Antrim. “As WIPZ reaches out into the communities of Racine and Kenosha, we feel that this collaboration will help both organizations grow by bringing exceptional quality football to the surrounding areas while at the same time providing more opportunities for students at WIPZ and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to engage in greater learning experiences.”
WIPZ is located at 101.5 FM and streams live on their website (www.wipz.org) and through the TuneIn app on mobile devices.
