Raiders announce 2015 tryout dates

The 2014 national champion Racine Raiders will hold two free tryouts for players who think they can help the organization win a 10th national championship.

The tryouts will take place on Sunday, March 1, 2015, and Sunday, March 29, 2015 (editor’s note: March 29 date was originally March 22 but had to be changed due to a conflict).

Both tryouts will be held at the Tarble Recreation Center on the campus of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The tryout is open to individuals that are at least 18 years old. Prospective players should wear indoor shoes and clothing that is appropriate for performing football drills (40 yards dash, shuttles, long jump, high jump, etc.).New Racine Raiders head coach Wilbert Kennedy provides some coaching to tryout participants in 2013.

The Racine Raiders offer a lot of benefits to their players, including worker’s compensation insurance, tickets to games, postgame meals, and fuel reimbursement for players who travel from a distance. All Racine Raiders games are broadcast on WRJN 1400 AM in Racine and on the Internet through the radio station website.

The Raiders are a community-based organization and there is an expectation that players will participate in community events. Nearly 2,000 fans pack the stands at Historic Horlick Athletic Field on Saturday nights to watch the team play.
