Raiders begin 49th season on WRJN

2015 Racine Raiders Broadcast TeamRacine Raiders games will once again be broadcast on Your Radio Friend, AM 1400 WRJN. It marks the 49th year of the partnership between WRJN and the Raiders. It is believed to be the longest partnership between a radio station and sports team outside of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States (Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association and National Hockey League) and the National Collegiate Athletic Conference, and is even among the longest including the professional and collegiate leagues.

There will be several changes and improvements to the broadcasts this season. The Racine Raiders Coach’s Show, which used to air on WRJN on Saturday mornings has been reworked and the new program has been moved. The new Raiders Roundup will premiere on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. on Your Radio Friend, AM 1400 WRJN. The program will be part of Ted Ehlen’s Community Conversations midday show which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Raider Roundup logoRaiders Roundup will air every Friday during the season and will be hosted by Raiders color commentator Tom Christensen, who begins his fifth year on the broadcast. Raiders Roundup will not just cover the previous week’s game highlights, but Tom and Ted will also look ahead at the upcoming opponent. Coaches, players and other Raiders staff members will join Tom and Ted. The program will also provide Raiders fans with the latest in Raiders and Mid-States Football League news.

Don Wadewitz returns for his fifth season as the voice of the Raiders and his 14th year as a member of the broadcast team. Baxter Colburn, who was the team’s public address announcer last season, will join the broadcast team as the sideline reporter. The team will also have an enhanced postgame show with game highlights hosted by Evan Witalison and player and coach interviews with Colburn for most games. Paul Junio returns for his fifth season as the official statistician for the broadcast and team.

Your Radio Friend, AM 1400 WRJN is also improving the quality of the online broadcasts. Raiders fans will now be able to listen to the broadcasts on their cell phones and tablets through the TuneIn Radio app by searching for WRJN. In addition, the station has also improved their over-the-air reach to delve deeper into the Milwaukee area.

The first Racine Raiders broadcast of the 2015 season will be against the Illinois Cowboys on June 13, 2015. The broadcast begins at 6:45 p.m. Don Wadewitz will be joined by former Raiders head coach Gino Perfetto for the initial broadcast.
