Raiders Release 2018 Non-League Games

Racine Raiders 2018 Non-League Opponents(ed. note: Originally, the Raiders had a May 19 game at the Chi City Ducks. When the MidStates Football League schedule was announced, the league’s week one games featured a game between the Raiders and Ducks in Chicago so the two teams mutually decided to cancel the May 19 game.)

The Racine Raiders 2018 non-league opponents are set. The season will open with a pair of road games against a yet to be determined opponent on May 19 and the Kenosha Cougars on May 26. The team will host the Muskegon Mustangs on July 7 for the annual Fourth of July weekend game.

The Raiders and Cougars continue a partnership that began last year and the Cougars will once again host the Raiders. The Cougars changed leagues and are now members of the Northern Lights Football League after playing in the Iron Athletes Football League last season. They also changed home fields, now playing at Tremper High School. The Cougars have improved each of the last two seasons but weren’t much of a match for the Raiders last year as Racine rolled to a 50-6 win.

The Muskegon Mustangs return to the gridiron after taking a year off in 2017 to reorganize. The Mustangs had a lot of success since their founding in 2012. The team won the Great Midwest Football League in 2013, were runners-up in the Great Lakes Football League (GLFL) in 2014, and won the GLFL in 2015 and 2016. The team were USA Bowl National Runners-up in 2014 and USA Bowl National Champions in 2016. The Mustangs and Raiders played in the 2014 Midwest Football Tournament Championship which the Raiders won 31-6 at Historic Horlick Athletic Field. The Raiders would go on to claim the National Football Events Spring/Fall National Championship with a win over the Detroit Seminoles.

The MSFL schedule is expected to be released this weekend and will be posted as soon as it’s released.
